On Monday, the 11th April, we were invited to go with the technicians of Diputació and the Ódena home authorities and see the new signposting placed along the route of the Castle’s Tower and the Òdena’s Old Quarter.
Since the 80’s, the Home Architectural Heritage Service of Diputació de Barcelona is carrying out some interventions in this area in order to, first, consolidate the monument and later, add value to it.
The last actions, from late 2010 and early 2011, were the placing of an entry staircase to the tower of the castle and the signposting by panelling interest points in an itinerary that shows the old quarter of Òdena and its singularity.
All this work, that we can enjoy in situ by walking along this important tourist resource of the Basin of Òdena, is supported by a significant research job which was carried out by the Home Architectural Heritage Service technicians. It documents one by one every house of the old quarter –the streets, the missing church, the school, the former city hall, the families that used to live there, their customs, etc.
During the visit, historian Raquel Lacuesta and archaeologist Àlvar Caixal gave us a very explanation of the work that they carried out and how we have to make it known to the potential tourism.
We want to congratulate the city hall of Òdena for their effort of preservation and diffusion of their cultural heritage and we encourage all the inhabitants of the Basin of Òdena to visit this tourist project which we hope that in a not too distant future comes true.
During the visit, historian Raquel Lacuesta and archaeologist Àlvar Caixal gave us a very explanation of the work that they carried out and how we have to make it known to the potential tourism.
