Museu Molí Paperer de Capellades

On 19th January of 2011 we visited the Capellades Paper Mill Museum. The museum curator, Ton Lloret, received us and showed us around the very interesting and useful tour. We could see the pre-industrial paper manufacturing process in one of the 16 old papers mills that belong to the “Coast Mills of Capellades”.

During the visit, Ton talked about the influx of visitors received by the Museum every year, (around 30,000 people) from which an 80% comes from state schools. After visiting the permanent exhibition, we could join a scheduled school tour and we learned from the explanatory techniques of the museum guide.

To complete the activity Mireia helped us to make a sheet of paper with our own hands and we could see the products that are made in the museum, which are sold in the shop and help to finance their project.

Thanks to the museum curator, Ton Lloret, and the rest of the staff for sharing with us such an interesting project and taking us for a while back to the pre-industrial period of Capellades.
