Mr. Miquel Peña, the hotel general manager, received us at the hall. He told us which are the manager basic functions and described the hotel’s organization chart for us.
Mister Peña cleared us up concepts as “Hotel Agency” or “accounting systems for hotels”. He talked about the Dormicum Hotels chain, and said that Hotel Ciutat d’Igualada belongs to it. Dormicum Hotels also administrates Can Carol (in Capellades), which is a reception room for special events and wedding celebrations. This chain owns other hotels in Madrid , Tarragona and Andorra .
21 people work at the Hotel Ciutat d’Igualada and they basically attend guests who come from the companies nearby. This facility was aimed to giving solutions to the Igualada’s trade net. National, Central European, or US tourists are also familiar to the hotel. On the weekends, the flow of people may vary depending on the events taking place in Igualada.
The hotel’s manager complained about our city’s road and rail links, since this is one of the most usual complaints among their guests.
After talking with Miquel Peña, Mrs. Encarna, (the head housekeeper), went with us to two different rooms and showed us how the hotel is ruled on the tourist world’s backstage.
We are very grateful for their warm reception to the hotel manager and the rest of the staff. We really hope they are very lucky and they overcome these hard days the tourism sector is going through.
